Every Kid Counts Oklahoma (EKCO) is partnering with local businesses this school year to award innovative Oklahoma educators throughout the state with a $1,000 scholarship that goes directly to their classroom.

EKCO, along with the Edmond Chamber of Commerce and the Edmond Economic Development Authority, presented the $1,000 scholarship to Cross Timbers Elementary School 1st grade teacher Jeanne Ksiazak for her outstanding work to innovate in the classroom. Oklahoma Sen. Adam Pugh helped present Ksiazak with the award, which brings together educators, business owners and community leaders to honor dedicated teachers.

“Oklahoma educators are some of the best and brightest in the profession and EKCO is honored to recognize their hard work and innovation,” said EKCO Executive Director Ryan Walters. “It is our goal to empower teachers and provide them with the resources and support they need to be successful.”

Sen. Pugh knows firsthand the impact of a wonderful teacher. His daughter loves being in Mrs. Ksiazak’s classroom.

Ksiazak is wonderful at helping her students with their critical thinking and teaching to each student's individual needs. She has many kids in her class and everyone gets unique individual attention.

On May 13th, EKCO staff visited the school to surprise Ksiazak with the check. EKCO provided the initial $500 scholarship funds and the Edmond Chamber and Edmond EDA matched the amount. The award money will go directly to Ksiazak for use for her own professional development and/or classroom needs.
