Every Kid Counts Oklahoma (EKCO) recently awarded Infinity Generation Generals Preparatory School (IGG) $1,000 to start their new and innovative heART of Education summer arts program. The school hopes to expand it to being a year-round offering beyond their current art classes.

This program will include numerous art forms, including painting, photography, drawing, digital art, performing arts, theater and dance, as well as field trips to local museums.

“Art will open opportunities for students to explore their education through self-expression by utilizing art forms,” said IGG Head of School Gina Darby.

“Oklahoma educators are some of the best and brightest in the profession and EKCO is honored to recognize their hard work and innovation,” said EKCO Executive Director Ryan Walters. “It is our goal to empower teachers and provide them with the resources and support they need to be successful.”

Infinity Generation Generals was nominated for the work they are doing inside and outside of their school to inspire student learning. IGG serves the entire east side of Oklahoma City by offering daily meals via a food bank program. Three meals each day are offered to students, community members and families right out of the school. IGG focuses on the whole student and their hierarchy of needs in education. EKCO wants to highlight and recognize the opportunities IGG provides students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles.

On April 12th, EKCO staff visited the school to present donuts and a check to provide the grant money to start their heART of Education program.
