Introducing Oklahoma Parents for Student Achievement: Empowering Oklahoma Families

Fellow Oklahomans, I am excited to announce the creation of a new organization: Oklahoma Parents for Student Achievement. OPSA is dedicated to empowering parents, guardians, and families in understanding the educational environments, resources, and options available to students in Oklahoma.

By supporting families across the state, we hope to help each child find the right fit for their educational needs and reach their full potential.

As Executive Director of OPSA, I will lead a team focused on parent services and advocacy across the state of Oklahoma.

Our parent services will support families seeking help with issues such as exploring their educational options, learning about curriculums available to them, and accessing tutoring resources. With a dyslexia specialist who is a CALP and LETRS trainer, as well as multiple Master IEP Coaches®, one of whom is bilingual, OPSA is prepared to assist parents from the beginning of their special education journey all the way to the finish line, and beyond. From a parents’ concerns letter to behavior safety plans, and attending IEP meetings, our team of exceptional parent service specialists will walk you through every step of the journey.

Meanwhile, our parent advocates will take you from the classroom to the Capitol steps as you learn how to be your child’s best advocate. OPSA is ready to help you take action on the issues most important to you and make a difference not only in the education of your child, but students across the state.

As a mom of two, I have always said that my children’s education is the most important thing in my life because it will determine their future. When my daughter and son were in elementary school we decided to move our family to a different public school district so that they could receive the best education possible. I am so grateful that parents no longer have to make that difficult decision. Between open transfer and the Oklahoma Parental Choice Tax Credit, charter schools, homeschools, microschools, and virtual schools, Oklahoma parents have a buffet of options to choose from.

With the help of Oklahoma Parents for Student Achievement, families will guide their children from kindergarten to graduation and prepare them for their future.
